What Is Great Writing?

Is it when nuanced complex sentences replete with sophisticated styling and grammatical structures evoke and stir up heaty emotions? Or is it when the writer consummately employs vivid images and lucid analogies to sear the reader’s mind? Or is it simply when the innocent reader, so obfuscated by the writer’s magniloquence, can arrive at no other conclusion than that of the writer’s brilliance?

Perhaps it’s simply when the points that are intended to be made, are delivered.
