5 Things I Wish I Could Have Known Earlier

I turned 20 recently, and reflected a little. This is the result of that reflection. If I were to re-do my time here on Earth and could only tell myself five things, it would be these five:

1.   Things will eventually make sense

There's no exact moment, but one day, you will suddenly be able to see things from a different point of view, past the artificial or superficial layers it may have previously been covered by, for example, high school constructs such as "popularity", etc.

2.   It's not you against the world

One day you'll be able to understand why other people make certain decisions, and more importantly, accept them for thinking differently, not wrongly.

3.   You're in control of your life

You don't need to wait for any turning point or external catalyst to prompt a fundamental rethink; you can flip the switch that rests solely in your own hands, at any time. You're in control of your own life.

4.   Spend more time alone, doing nothing

Escape. Meditate and listen to yourself. Ask yourself the big important questions.

5.   The importance of good habits

When your body can switch to auto-pilot, your mind can wander and discover. Find a hobby and pursue it, for example swim every morning. And when you work Daniel, for heaven's sake, please turn off Facebook, Skype, and Spotify.
